Pump Drum
3 minElectronic
Slow burn. 348 moves a minute, peaking at 400 units a second.
Log drums, a fire and a crowd answering every word she calls. Fast the whole way, with one drum break that stops dead.
Lyrics
Intro
Sun goes red behind the hill, the fire starts to burn
The old drum wakes, the people come, the ring begins to turn
Eh! Oh! Eh! Oh!
Verse 1
She walks into the circle, dust is on her feet
The drummer hits it once, the whole town hears the beat
The drum says: Up! (Up!) The drum says: Down! (Down!)
Shake, shake, shake, shake! The ground begins to shake!
Chorus
Pump, pump, pump, pump! The drum is in your hand
Stroke, stroke, stroke, stroke! The fire is on the sand
Faster! Pump, pump, pump, pump! Harder! Stroke, stroke, stroke, stroke!
All the way up! All the way down! The drum goes on and on!
Verse 2
The old man with the whistle, he laughs and gives a sign
The young ones tap, tap, tap, tap the drums, all in a line
Grip it... clench it... choke it... now release!
Bounce, bounce, bounce, and drop! The crowd is on its feet!
Drum Break
Now the hands go quick! Flick, flick, flick, flick!
Stutter, stutter, jitter, jitter, tap, tap, tap, tap!
Sweat is on the drum skin, pat, pat, pat, pat!
Freeze! Nobody move...
Bridge
The fire is getting low... the dancer starts to sway
Slower... slower... hold... hold... she is looking your way
Wait... wait... tremble... tremble... her eyes are on you too
Climb, climb, climb, climb, higher! The drum is calling you!
Freeze!
Peak
Faster! Faster! Stroke! Stroke! Stroke! Stroke! The fire jumps to the sky!
Pump! Pump! Pump! Pump! Pump! Pump! Pump! Pump! Nobody asks why!
Harder! Stroke! Stroke! Stroke! Stroke! Stroke! Stroke! The whole town is alive!
Outro
The sun is coming, the fire is just a glow
Slow... down... rest... still... the drum is soft and low
Root... hold... stop.
